Press Release: River Ridge Living Center to Become Pioneers for Telemedicine

Mar 30, 2013

As of April 1, 2013 River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY will become the first nursing home in Montgomery County to utilize telemedicine services for its residents. Telemedicine is the ability to provide interactive health care using modern technology and telecommunications. The specializations available will include emergency medicine, neurology, psychiatry, cardiology, radiology, and more. This is the cutting edge in healthcare and will enable  River Ridge patients to receive constant medical attention 24/7, allowing them to forego many uncomfortable visits to hospitals, emergency rooms and doctors’ offices so the resident remains at home.

The benefit of telemedicine is it improves the access and convenience of healthcare. There is no time spent in waiting rooms, it assures patient privacy, it avoids unnecessary hospital readmissions and is much more cost efficient. If a transfer to a hospital ER is needed, an ambulance will transport the person creating a seamless process for the patient and staff.

A company managed by Dr. Steve Okhravi and Dr. Tariq Gill, two known and respected members of the medical community, will be providing the services.
